It is with mixed emotions that I announce the departure of our Lead Educator Bernard Trubowitz. He’s accepted an incredible full time position with the USS Constitution Museum. After having worked for the National Park Service and numerous museums and organizations, Bernard absolutely deserves this opportunity and is more than qualified.
Of course, we will miss him a great deal here at Old North. For the past three seasons, Bernard has been a steady force on the floor, sharing his passion for history with visitors and staff alike (with a big grin and a beard tug, of course). In addition to leading the team of church educators and charming our visitors, he’s managed the Sounding Board this season, written short history articles like this one and this one, built a mini box pew for Prince the cat, and created interpretive signage for the archaeological dig that took place in our Washington Garden this summer.
I’m excited for Bernard as he continues to make strides in his career and am proud to have had him on my team for as long as I did. His random historical knowledge is unparalleled and his heart is pure gold. We thank Bernard for his absolute commitment and dedication to Old North over the past three years and wish him luck on his new job across the river.
CONGRATULATIONS, BERNARD, AND A FOND FAREWELL FROM YOUR FRIENDS AT OLD NORTH!!
