The Old North Foundation promotes values of freedom, liberty, and civic engagement through the interpretation and preservation of the Old North Church & Historic Site, an enduring symbol of American independence. The Foundation serves a wide audience by creating meaningful experiences through educational outreach, site-specific programming, and historical analysis.

Steve Ayres | Executive Director

Stephen T. Ayres has served as Executive Director of the Old North Foundation since 2012. Vicar Ayres was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1980 and has served parishes in Missouri, New York, and Massachusetts. He has an undergraduate degree in Comparative Religion from Hamilton College, an M.Div. from the Episcopal Divinity School, and an MA in Urban Policy from Tufts University. At Old North, Vicar Ayres is responsible for the management and preservation of the historic site. He lives near the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown with his wife Lisa and son Matthew.

Pam has worked for Old North for more than twelve years. She was initially responsible for the managing and purchasing of one gift shop. Today the campus is home to three thriving retail operations with more planned for the future. Pam also manages the Foundation’s human resources, oversees the bookkeeper, and facilitates operational improvements. Prior to joining Old North, she worked for the Boston Symphony Orchestra for ten years. Pam lives in Chelsea with her cats Sadie and Saul and is the proud mother of her 28-year-old son Cole.

Kyra Destefano | Gift Shop Manager

Kyra has worked for the Old North Foundation since she graduated from Bridgewater State College in 2010. She was originally hired as a sales associate, subsequently promoted to Key Holder, then to full-time Assistant Gift Shop Manager before being promoted yet again to Gift Shop Manager in 2016. Kyra is a 2010 graduate of Bridgewater State University. Originally from Melrose, Kyra now lives on her own in Quincy.
Rose Limanni | Associate Director of Development

Rose manages all aspects of development including the annual fund, Lantern Ceremony, and the $11 million capital campaign to restore the Old North Church and its campus. She has been in the fundraising field for eight years, formerly working at Historic New England, Trustees of Reservations, and MassArt. She is a graduate of the Harvard Extension School’s Museum Studies program and received her BA in Liberal Arts for St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. Rose currently resides in Somerville.
Chloe Lin | Marketing & Communications Associate
Chloe is responsible for Old North’s digital identity. She runs Old North’s social media accounts, develops e-communications, assists with maintaining the website, and promotes events. She has been with Old North since the spring of 2016, when she started out as a church educator and Clough House interpreter. In addition to Old North, Chloe also works as a project coordinator for the Chinese Historical Society of New England (CHSNE) and floor manager for the Old South Meeting House. She is passionate about sharing history with the public and has created a tour of Copp’s Hill Burying Ground and the crypt for Old North as well as an art-based tour of Chinatown for CHSNE. Chloe received her BA in history with a minor in museum studies from Smith College in 2016. She is originally from Los Angeles and now resides in Brookline.
Catherine Matthews | Co-Director of Education (Operations & Visitor Experience)

Catherine oversees operations, administration, and strategy in the education department. She received her BA magna cum laude in English and American Literature and Language and her Masters in Liberal Arts (English Literature concentration), both from Harvard University. Between college and graduate school, Catherine raised a family while serving a wide variety of education and human service organizations in both the United States and overseas. She has coordinated volunteers at a private day school, developed reading incentive programs in the Dominican Republic, volunteered in a Taiwanese orphanage, substituted at an international school in Hong Kong, served as treasurer for a women’s organization in Quito, Ecuador, and raised scholarship funds for Barnard College. Currently the vice-chair of the Board of Directors for Community Servings, Catherine has also served on the Board of Directors for the Freedom Trail Foundation and the Board of Overseers for the Massachusetts Historical Society. An enthusiastic cook, Catherine also enjoys sketching and quilting. She commutes by ferry from Hingham!

TJ is the direct supervisor of the 20-30 part-time educators in the church and Clough House, training and coaching new staff, managing schedules and payroll, and filling in as a frontline interpreter at a moment’s notice! Always happiest leading tours any time he gets the opportunity, he also assists with interpretive planning and program conception. TJ joined the Old North team in August 2018 after having worked at a variety of museums and education settings throughout his career. Most recently, TJ served as the Exhibit Floor Coordinator for the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. TJ received his training from the National Park Service, serving for one season at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Ohio and for three seasons at the Adams National Historic Park in Quincy, MA. Originally from the Cleveland area, TJ received his BA in history from Ohio University and now lives in Jamaica Plain with his wife.
Erin Wederbrook Yuskaitis | Co-Director of Education (Programming & Visitor Learning)

After serving as the Director of Education for four years, Erin job-shares the position with Catherine Matthews since 2017. Now on a part-time basis, she oversees all programming (public, school, and digital), exhibitions, and interpretation on site. Prior to heading up the education department, Erin worked as a weekend church educator for three seasons. She spent seven years in the nonprofit art world, managing programs for diverse audiences and curating exhibits for three different arts organizations in Alabama and Massachusetts. She received her BA from the University of Virginia in art history and archaeology, her MA from the University of Alabama in American studies, and her Certificate in Museum Studies/Education from Tufts University. She also serves on the Planning Committee of the Greater Boston Museum Educators Roundtable and assists the New England Museum Association with administrative planning. She consults for a variety of organizations on docent training and presents regionally on audience-centered learning and innovative programming for adults. When she’s not corralling her two young kids, she lectures and leads gallery talks on art + medicine topics with her physician-scientist husband in museums, hospitals, and schools. They live in West Roxbury.
Tim Wenrich | Sexton
Tim is responsible for the maintenance and functioning of all the buildings, systems, and grounds on the Old North campus. He joined the Old North Team in 2011. Prior to his work with Old North, Tim served in the US Navy after he graduated high school. He also has extensive experience in construction, and we are thankful for his expertise! Originally from New Hampshire, Tim now lives in the North End and is the proud uncle of Mason, Summer, and Jackson.
