1723 Club for Young Adults

We’re a Diverse and Lively Group

Among Old North’s signature and distinctive ministries is the 1723 Club (named for our founding year). With over 20 active members, the 1723 Club is a lively, open and inclusive young adults group committed to providing opportunities for fellowship and personal growth through genuine friendships and support; discussing the application of faith to school/careers; and exploring questions of faith and Christianity. We also have fun together.

Members hail from across the U.S., Canada, and beyond. The Club provides a supportive and engaging community for those new to Boston, beginning school or careers, and all looking for a place to belong. Religious backgrounds include several denominations and traditions, along with others who are newer to Christianity and seeking to grow in their faith and understanding. For those interested, our Vicar is happy to discuss baptism and opportunities for faith development within the context of our unique and supportive community. Like the Old North Congregation more broadly, the Club fully welcomes those who identify as LGBTQ+. All are welcome.

Professions and passions include law, architecture & historic preservation, technology, communications, finance & business, environmental conservation, scientific research, journalism, music, and more. Members live in the North End, Beacon Hill, East Boston, Allston, Medford, and Malden.

We’re Active in Our Congregation

1723 Club members are fully integrated and active in all aspects of Old North’s congregational life. Sunday mornings young adults can be found ushering, singing in the choir, reading at services, serving communion, setting up the altar, managing the livestream, and hosting coffee hour. We are also active in outreach ministries, participating in Lenten studies and church history courses, and more. Members enthusiastically participate in major congregational and community activities, such as the annual brass polishing party in November and greening the campus in December.

We Host Regular and Seasonal Events

Throughout the year we host an array of events, including a Welcome Back BBQ, the Annual Brass Chandelier Weekend Brunch, Mid-Winter Dinner, and activities off-site. We regularly offer a more informal family-style potluck lunches and dinners in the Parish House and sometimes in area North End restaurants following community events and Sunday services. Recent activities have included an after-hours tour of the church and crypt, card games in the Parish House over pizza, and a tour of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. We use What’s App to communicate regularly to coordinate events and share personal news. Please contact us to join.

We would be delighted to meet you. Contact us to find out more about the 1723 Club.
