HUB History Live Podcast Episode

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday on November 8, 2026 brings together British and Commonwealth diplomatic, military, and civilian communities, alongside the Old North congregation for a moving service that honors those who were killed in the line of duty in the two World Wars.

The worship service follows traditional Anglican Choral Matins (Morning Prayer), and includes bagpipes, recitation of the “In Flanders Fields” poem and a moving wreath laying ceremony. All are welcome.

Choral Evensong

Combining scripture, sung canticles and psalms, choral anthems, and richly worded prayers, Evensong at Old North draws on the the Anglican cathedral choir tradition. The service is enveloped by music. Our prayers are inspired by the striking beauty of the words, silences and music, and we add our own voice in saying the Amens and in singing the hymn. It is an ideal way to mark the end of a busy day and the transition into evening. All are welcome.

Deborah Sampson: A Revolution of Her Ownng 

The hour-long program chronicles Deborah Sampson’s remarkable life. An indentured servant by age five, Deborah grew up in a world where women were second-class. Deborah knew options were limited; breaking the rules was necessary to accomplish a greater goal in life. Experience Deborah’s arduous upbringing, one and a half years of active combat, and success as America’s first professional female soldier, through interactive stories and authentic colonial attire. Deborah’s passion is transfixing!

Merry & Macabre: Tales of Victorian Holiday Horror

Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson will bring to life eerie tales of the supernatural from the golden age of the ghost story, including Charles Dickens’s The Goblins Who Stole a Sexton — a sinister precursor to A Christmas Carol — and A.M. Burrage’s spine-chilling Christmas Eve thriller, Smee, where a festive game of hide-and-seek in a dark mansion turns into a terrifying encounter with the unknown. Enhancing the evening’s haunting atmosphere, multi-instrumentalist Josiah Reibstein will lead an ensemble performing a live, original score.

Sunday Services

Our Sunday services follow the liturgies in the Episcopal Church’s Book of Common Prayer, supplemented by a rich array of resources from across our Anglican tradition, especially the Church of England and the Anglican Church of Canada, as well as our Lutheran full communion partners.

Most Sundays we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, also called Holy Communion or the Mass. Choral Matins (traditional Anglican Morning Prayer) is offered several times a year. Lessons & Carols are held in Advent and Epiphany.
